Food & symptom diary

Work out what keeps setting you off.

If you are trying to work out what sets your reactions off, this keeps the record that you and your doctor can work from together. Log a reaction whenever it happens — or afterwards, from memory — and the diary lays out the hours before it so you can fill in what you ate, used or were around. After a few episodes it shows you what keeps recurring, and you can print a dated record to take to your appointment.

  1. Say when it started Just now, yesterday, or any date and time. Writing it up later is the normal way to use this.
  2. Fill in the hours before Morning, midday, afternoon, evening, night — working backwards. Leave gaps where you cannot remember.
  3. Read back what recurs From three reactions on, see what appears most often — as single foods and as groups like dairy or gluten.

This tool keeps records and counts what appears in them. It does not diagnose, and something showing up often does not mean it caused your reaction.
